Get involved - become a co-opted member

What is a co-opted member?

A co-opted member is a member of the public aged 18 or over, who lives or works in Wakefield District.

We appoint co-opted members based on their skills and knowledge, in areas that are beneficial to our work.

They serve on committees and use their skills to help to:

  • hold decision makers to account
  • develop and review policies
  • question officers about performance and quality of services
  • reflect the voice of local people

Their input is valued and can influence future decisions and service improvements.
