Why you should report a stray dog

Reporting stray dogs helps make sure they are safe and protects the safety of others.

It also helps reunite lost pets with their families.

If you think the stray dog is a potential risk or danger, please fill out our dangerous dog form.

Before you start, things you need to know:

Our dog wardens work Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm (excluding Bank Holidays). During these hours, the main kennel number is 0345 8 506 506.

Details of the stray dog will be passed to the dog wardens, who will attend as soon as possible.

Outside hours (including weekends)

Take the dog to the kennels

You can ring to arrange to take the stray dog to Manor Boarding Kennels.

You can only take dogs to Manor Boarding Kennels Mon-Fri 5pm-9pm. Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays 8am to 9pm.

Have the dog collected

If the dog is found on a weekend, you can keep the dog until a dog warden can collect it on the Monday (or Tuesday if it's a Bank Holiday).

Before you start, you will need to tell us:

  • the dog's current location and, if the dog is on your property, what you would like to happen next regarding the dog
  • when you saw the dog
  • a description of the dog (breed, size, colour, age, etc.)

Report a stray dog

If you wish to report a stray dog, please fill in our online form. You will get an application number. If you provide us with an email address an automated confirmation of your request will be sent to you.
