Equality Impact Assessments (EIA’s)
We conduct an Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) to assess the potential impact of our decisions, plans, and projects. The assessment helps us understand how these actions may affect the communities we serve.
The EIA Framework covers the following key areas:
- Equality and Diversity/Community Cohesion
- Environment
- Health and Wellbeing
- Economy
- Workforce
- with a cross cutting theme of community safety
Legal Responsibilities
The EIA Framework has been designed to make sure the Council follows these statutes:
- Section 149 of:
- the Equality Act 2010 (the public sector equality duty), and;
- the Equality Act 2010 (Specific Duties) Regulations 2011
- Section 17 of the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 (as amended by the Police Reform Act 2002)
- Duty to Involve (Section 138 of the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007)
- Environmental Impact Assessments under the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) (England and Wales) Regulations 1999 for major land use planning matters
EIA's were previously required but have recently been rescinded.
