Making contact with us online has a number of benefits - it is quick, free and there are no queues. You can contact us online to apply, report or pay for something.

You can also find details of your local councillor, schools in your catchment area, tree preservation orders, and any roadworks being carried out near you on Where I Live.

MyAccount gives you quick and easy access to a range of online services.

You can manage your Council Tax, report missed bin collections, book collections for waste removal, report fly tipping and so much more! You can also track the progress of your requests and update your own cases, as well as receiving faster responses.

Please note that to be able to register and use the online service you must be a resident in the Wakefield district. We currently do not offer the MyAccount service for businesses. We are working on bringing more services into MyAccount, but if you can’t find the information there, you may be able to find it here on this website - just type your query into the search box above.

Social media

For news and events, follow us on social media.

Our social media pages are monitored between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Thursday and until 4:30pm on Friday. We’ll be unable to respond to questions or complaints outside these hours, even if we post from our pages. We actively monitor our social media pages for coverage during critical and major incidents, adverse weather and events.

Before you contact us by telephone, check if you can complete your task online so you won’t be waiting in a call centre queue. 

0345 numbers are charged at the same rate as standard landline numbers. If your phone tariff offers free calls to landlines, calls to 0345 numbers will also be free.

Homelessness

You can call our Housing Needs Team Monday to Thursday: 8:30am to 5pm, Friday: 8:30am to 4:30pm. Outside of these times we offer an out of hours service on these telephone numbers for immediate risk of homelessness. If non urgent please call back in working hours. 

Vico Homes

The Council no longer owns any housing stock - all our properties were transferred to Vico Homes in 2005 ( formerly WDH).

Visit us

We’re in Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2EB, behind County Hall, Wood Street. The main reception is open 8:30am to 5pm where you can speak to a member of the Customer Services team face-to-face. Our Revenue and Benefits counter is also open between 10am to 4pm. Please note the Licensing counter is by appointment only.

  • The nearest car park is at Merchant Gate

Should you need to contact Registrars, they are based at Town Hall on Wood Street and their opening times can be found on contact our register offices.

We take our obligation to protect our customer’s information seriously at all times. As email is rapidly becoming the preferred method of communication, you can now send confidential information to us by email. The system we use is a web-based product called Cryptshare.
