Gambling support
NHS gambling support
If you have a problem with gambling and you'd like to stop, support and treatment is available. Don’t suffer in silence. NHS gambling treatment clinics offer specialist support across England. Their team can:
- treat you if gambling is causing you problems
- support you with your recovery
- provide therapy for any health needs you have linked to gambling
- support your family or friends if they need help

Catch A Falling Star Wakefield Adult Mental Health Support Group
Our group gathers to support and share experiences related to mental health. We meet in a relaxed setting, offering a welcoming environment. You can bring a friend, family member, partner, support worker, or caregiver if you wish.
Refreshments are provided, and attendance is free.

We meet every two weeks on Wednesday evenings from 6:15pm to 8:15pm.
We are currently looking for new premises after our previous venue in the Ridings Centre was taken over by new ownership.
We will update you when this happens and keep an eye (and follow if you wish) our main Facebook page where we will advertise our new venue once we have been able to secure it.

The Richmond Fellowship Mental Health Support Service
Offers support to adults aged 17 years and above with Mental Health Needs.
We offer support to adults aged 17 and above with mental health needs. Our service provides drop-in sessions throughout the district. Here you can receive advice, guidance, and one-on-one listening. We also have a support program that offers personalised help to meet individual needs. Our peer support groups bring people together to share knowledge, experiences. They also provide emotional and practical support to one another.

If you or someone you know is feeling down, worried, or overwhelmed, Here For You can help. Their friendly team is available every night from 6pm until midnight in Leeds, Kirklees, and Wakefield.
The service provides free and private in-person support for anybody 16 years or older in Leeds and Wakefield, or 18 years or older in Kirklees.
One-to-one support is available to those who would like to discuss issues in private. There is also a social space each evening available for up to 6 people, who would prefer to be around others.

Age UK Wakefield District
A mental health service for older people called ‘Wraparound’. All calls will be responded to within 24 hours, Wraparound is not a crisis service. The Wraparound team is made up of Age UK Wakefield District staff.
They have expertise in managing mental health in older people, and a team of experienced volunteers. This team offer time to listen to the needs of psychologically vulnerable older people. They do this by providing the space for older people to express their fears and concerns during the lockdown. The team will also provide support with the transition to life after the lockdown.

Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (RASAC)
We provide support to individuals who have experienced rape or sexual violence. Our services are available to those aged 13 and above, residing in Kirklees, Calderdale, or Wakefield, regardless of their gender identity.
We offer support through two main teams: the Therapeutic Team and the Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) Team.
Our Therapeutic Team provides a wide range of support services. These include counselling, art therapy, group therapy, Reiki, support sessions, and a helpline service. Our ISVA Team offers specialised and confidential support for survivors of sexual violence. They can help you understand your options, go with you to appointments, and support you in making informed choices.
