Overdue library items and books
We no longer charge fines on overdue books.
Please avoid allowing your books to become overdue by renewing or returning items on or before the due date. You can renew books in branch, by telephone or online.
When your items become overdue
We send overdue item notices by email or text. If you do not supply either an email address or a mobile/landline telephone number please be aware that we do not send postal notices. If your books are overdue for longer than 10 weeks you may be prevented from borrowing books. You'll be prevented from using the internet as well. Until they have been returned or, in the case of loss or damage, paid for or replaced.
How to avoid your items becoming overdue
Sign up to receive an email reminder three library 'open days' before items are due to be returned. Permitting time for them to be renewed or returned helping you to avoid overdue notices.
The pre-due notice service is by email only and is available on all types of library items. To activate pre-due notices on your account please contact your local library.
