It's FREE to join the library!
Membership of Wakefield Libraries provides 24/7 free access to:
- Our extensive catalogue online for you to browse, read reviews and reserve titles
- Your library account – see what you have on loan, renew your books and check on your holds
- A wide range of online library resources in our digital library such as encyclopaedias, dictionaries, newspapers and much more
- Free downloads of e-audiobooks, e-magazines and language courses
How to join
There are two ways to join:
- Visit a library
You can join the library by visiting any of our branches. From 1 October 2020 you do not need to bring any proof of identification - Join the library online
Fill in the Libraries Online joining form
If you register to join the library online you will receive a temporary borrower number and PIN. You can start reserving items straightaway from the online catalogue and using some of our online resources. Visit your chosen local library to collect your library card, from 1 October 2020 you do not need to bring any proof of identification.
If you are under 16 there are three ways to join:
- Visit a library on your own
You can join the library on your own to borrow children's books or to use a computer - Visit a library with a parent or carer
The parent or carer will need to bring one form of identification into the library - Join the library online
Fill in the Libraries Online joining form
You will need to have your parents/carers permission to register to join the library online. If your parent/carer is already a member of the library then you will need to enter their borrower number when prompted. If they are not a member then you will need to enter your parents/carers contact details (e.g.: full name and a permanent address)
By signing your library card you are agreeing to abide by the policies, procedures and byelaws of Wakefield Libraries and Information Services (copies are also available at all our library branches).
Note: All information held on our library management software system is covered by Data Protection and will not be used for unauthorised purpose or shared with other persons or organisations.
