Volunteering at our Museums and Castles
Do you have a passion for history or culture? Are you a people person? Would you like to get more involved with your local area?
If the answer is yes, then why not become a volunteer?
There are so many different things to do within volunteering. Each role offers flexible hours, and we provide full training and support.
What's more, volunteering is a great way to:
- meet new people and make new friends
- develop new skills and learn about the district's history, stories and collections
- build your confidence
- be active
- gain work experience
Current Opportunities
Insect survey volunteer (recruitment ongoing)
Are you interested in helping us record and promote insect species at Pontefract Castle? No need to have an in-depth knowledge as we’ll provide books to help! Days and hours are flexible around you. You'll record the species you see on a tablet.
Bird survey volunteer (recruitment ongoing)
Are you interested in helping us record bird species at Pontefract Castle? We’ve recently installed several bird feeders and want to record the birds visiting the castle. An interest in birds would be great but no need to know every British bird as we’ll provide books to help! Days and hours are flexible around you. You'll record details of the birds you see. Your surveys will help us plan further facilities for local birds.
Make and take volunteer (recruitment ongoing)
Would you like to support children and young adults to take part in craft activities? Do you enjoy helping others? We'd love for you to help run our Make and Take sessions on Sundays at Pontefract Castle!
