Supporting apprenticeships in the blue light service sector
Every year Blue Light Services support residents across the district. These organisations rely on their people to deliver these services. They recruit new staff and up-skill existing staff, through apprenticeships and training schemes.
The Central Government Apprenticeship Levy scheme funds these apprenticeships. This maintains a supply of skilled workers to these vital sectors.
Some organisations want to take on extra apprentices but can't, due to lack of funding. While other organisations have filled their positions, but still have funds left available.
Emergency Network for Apprenticeships in Blue Light Establishments (ENABLE) is a scheme that allows Blue Light Services to share funding with each other.
This includes:
- The Fire Brigade
- NHS Trusts
- The Police
If one service has money left over and another needs it, they can apply to have it allocated through this scheme.
