School calendars
Most schools in the Wakefield District have the same term and holiday dates.
These dates are set and agreed by the Council.
However, some Voluntary aided schools and academies do set their own term and holiday dates.
Schools setting their own dates
Voluntary-aided schools and academies can set their own term and holiday dates. If your child attends one of these types of school, you should contact the school directly to check their dates.
INSET (teacher-training) days
Each school is allowed to set five INSET days each year. These are days when teachers attend school for training and other tasks, but children do not attend. The dates of INSET days are agreed by the governing body of the school. Your child's school will let you know what these dates are once they have been set.

Please note that the 2026/27 school calendar is draft only. It has not been approved by Wakefield Council and may be subject to change.
A decision will be made in Spring 2025 for the 2026/27 school calendar.
