Post-16 transport
We have agreed our Post-16 Transport Policy 2025 / 2026.
This covers:
- learners aged 16-18
- continuing learners aged 19-24 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
Once a young person reaches 16 years of age, we do not have to help with transport. This applies if that young person chooses to remain in full time education after the age of 16.
The Post 16 Transport Policy provides:
- clarity for parents, carers and young people facing a wide range of circumstances
- appropriate support for young people with significant special educational needs and disabilities
- support for parents in getting eligible young people to college
Please note:
- it remains the parent's responsibility to make sure their child attends college
- parents may have to take their child to college, replacing a taxi or minibus
- where appropriate, learners can take part in a program of Independent Travel Training
- you can view our Post-16 Transport Policy for 2025/2026 online
