The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment and Schools Organisation Plan 2024

The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment and Schools Organisation Plan 2024 is a nationally recognised document produced annually to refresh the data held. It provides a consistent review of emerging early year and school place pressures in the Wakefield district and is seen as good practice.

Wakefield Council has a statutory duty to make sure there are enough childcare places available across the Wakefield district. The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment is an annual survey of the local childcare market. This makes sure there are enough childcare places in the Wakefield district.

The Childcare Sufficiency Assessment reports on the childcare vacancies at present and future forecasted childcare vacancies. The information provided helps identify gaps in the local childcare market and helps to plan future childcare needs.

More information on Early Years and Childcare can be found on our Wakefield Families Together website.
