Where can I find support?
Although caring can be rewarding it can also be tiring and stressful and it can have a massive impact on all aspects of a carer’s life. Having the right information is vital to ensure carers are supported. Unpaid carers are entitled to emotional, practical, and financial support.
Carers Wakefield and District provide a wide range of practical local support to unpaid carers who live in the Wakefield district. This includes:
- providing information and advice
- signposting to other organisations
- organising training sessions
- delivering information events and activities for carers.
- helping you connect with other carers who may be in a similar position
- helping you access benefits and other financial support
- social outings
- supporting you whilst your loved one is in hospital
- helping you if your loved one is in, or is thinking of becoming, resident in a care home/supported living
They also administer the My Time grant which enables carers to apply for up to £100 to have a break from their caring role.
