Help with living at home
Many people find that there are times when they have difficulty coping with daily life and need help from someone. This can be because of illness, disability, frailty, whether temporary or permanent.
Often families, friends and neighbours are able to help, but some people may need more support to keep living at home. This is where Wakefield home care services may be able to help.
We offer home care services in the Wakefield District. Our Personal Care Teams or approved external providers can deliver the service at any location within the district. Depending on your needs assessment, you may receive a cash budget. This will allow you to organise and customise your own care and support accordingly.
If home care is needed, new users of Home Care Services will usually be referred to our Personal Care Team first. They provide a service for up to six weeks to help rehabilitation and recovery from an illness or injury. They also make sure that the level of service is right for the person's needs and keeps them being independent.
An assessment is needed for this service and you will need to contact Social Care Direct.
If you don't meet our standards for support, we will give advice and information about other, private care providers. This includes support from voluntary agencies and groups.

Alternative providers of care
Our Home Care Service is provided by both in-house and independent sector providers. These services are monitored and checked by us to make sure vulnerable people are safeguarded and receive a quality service.

There are other care providers available in the area. You can find detailed information about them, on the CQC website here. This includes their Care Quality Commission (CQC) quality rating and the latest inspection report.
It's important to note that we do not monitor these care providers as we do not have a contract with them.
