About our Celebrants Service

What is a Registrar?

A Registrar (also known as a Civil Registration Officer or Deputy Superintendent Registrar, or Deputy Registrar) is a person appointed to legally perform and record marriages and civil partnerships. These take place at Approved Marriage and Civil Partnership venues in the Wakefield district.

What is a Celebrant?

A Celebrant is an independent person who performs non-legal ceremonies in any location.

Celebrate your ceremony at Wakefield

At Wakefield our team of Registrars are trained to not only provide a legally binding marriage or civil partnership. They can also provide bespoke, personalised ceremonies that are unique to you as a couple.

Our only restriction is that civil ceremonies cannot be religious in nature. Therefore we are unable to include hymns, prayers or other religious rituals or symbols.

So, why choose Wakefield?

Our dedicated, professional (and quite honestly, truly amazing) team are experienced at delivering a legal ceremony that reflects you as a couple, meeting your individual needs.

Similar to a Celebrant we also offer:

  • personalisation of your ceremony
  • choice of vows (you can also write your own!)
  • choice of ceremony enhancements
  • the opportunity to write and share your story
  • readings
  • music or singer
  • combining of sand and ring warming rituals
  • ceremony meetings (fee applies)

So, what are you waiting for? If you’ve chosen your dream venue, go along to our booking page and book your Registrar!
