Celebrate Your Way
Have the wedding of your dreams
Do you have your heart set on a wedding in a barn with hay bales, a tipi in the woods, a lakeside or in a private house or garden? Then choose to celebrate your way with us.
The venue
The law only allows a civil marriage or civil partnership to take place at a venue approved for such purpose.
If you have your heart set on an outdoor wedding at a venue that isn't approved for legal marriage or civil partnership ceremonies we can assist. Our dedicated and professional team can complete both the legal and celebration elements of your ceremony. It will give you peace of mind that you are in experienced hands with a great record of delivering excellent service.
To book the date and time of your ceremony you must provide us with name and contact details of the landowner/proprietor of your venue. It is so that we can undertake a risk assessment. The risk assessment will be undertaken within 2 weeks and you will be notified in writing of the outcome of the risk assessment

The legal ceremony
Upon confirmation that your chosen venue has a satisfactory risk assessment, we will contact you to arrange your legal ceremony. Your legal ceremony will be held at Wakefield or Pontefract Town Hall with two witnesses. Alternatively, you can choose a larger room to accommodate more guests or have the legal ceremony at an approved venue of your choice (subject to the relevant fee). We recommend the legal ceremony is undertaken within the two weeks prior to your celebration ceremony.
The celebration ceremony
We will provide you with a guide to your ceremony which provides you with many opportunities to enhance and personalise your ceremony so that it is unique to you.
You can download and view an accessible version of our ceremony guide here.
You can include personal vows, readings, and music. You can share your story, how you met, and your shared hopes and aspirations. You can also choose to combine sands, which symbolises the two of you and your families joining together as one. If there is anything additional to this that you would like to include in your ceremony please contact us to discuss.
Prior to the ceremony, you will meet with the celebrant who will be officiating on the day to discuss all aspects of your celebration ceremony.
Please contact us using the details on this page for more information, or to book your ceremony.
Please see the fees document download for more information.
