Crematoria
We have two crematoria located in Pontefract and Wakefield that perform over 3,000 cremations each year.
As a member of The Federation of British Cremation Authority, we follow the Federation's code of cremation practice and the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management.

Pontefract Crematorium

We offer either 40-minute, 20-minute or direct services in our crematorium chapel. A maximum of 95 people can sit inside and attend the funeral service at Pontefract chapel. This does not include the minister conducting the service (75 in main chapel and 20 on balcony). We also allow limited standing.
The service times for Pontefract are as follows:
Monday – Thursday 9am – 3pm (first two and last service are 20 minutes or direct)
Friday 9am – 2:20pm (first two service times are 20 minutes or direct)
The grounds are open every day of the year.
Wakefield Crematorium

We offer either 40-minute, 20-minute or direct services in our crematorium chapel. A maximum of 100 people can sit inside and attend the funeral service at the Wakefield chapel. This does not include the minister conducting the service (93 in the main chapel and 7 in the waiting room). We also allow limited standing.
The service times for Wakefield Crematorium are as follows:
Monday – Thursday 9am – 3pm (first and last service is 20 minutes)
Friday 9am – 2pm (first service is 20 minutes)
The grounds are open every day of the year.
Facilities in each chapel include:
- hearing loop system
- Wesley music and media system – allowing visual tributes, web broadcasts and for services to be recorded (Further information on requests)
Book of Remembrance Rooms
Each crematorium has a Chapel of Remembrance where families can place entries, upon application, into the Book of Remembrance and leave floral tributes.
The Chapels of Remembrance at both sites are open seven days a week, Monday to Sunday 9am to 4.30pm, including Bank Holidays.
Strewing of cremated remains can take place with an appointment, which can be made by contacting the main office on 01924 307446.
