New Headstones

Following a new or re-opened burial, you can have a new headstone erected in memory of the deceased. You can also have an additional inscription added to an existing headstone.

We only allow masons who are registered with NAMM or BRAMM to operate within the district’s cemeteries.

Please note that no work can be carried out on a memorial without:

• The authority of the person holding the Right of Burial to the grave
• Your memorial mason submitting an application form and fee to the Council
• The Council issuing a permit

The mason’s application form makes clear what is permitted with regard to size and fixing.

Safety Inspections 

To make sure that cemeteries are safe places to visit every headstone undergoes a safety inspection.
