Culture Grants Small

Small grants offer up to £2,000. They are open to applications from constituted community groups, charities, CICs, and other VCSE organisations.

Individuals and businesses are not eligible to apply.

Small Grants are for small arts, cultural and heritage projects and activities. They support opportunities for residents to experience culture in their communities.

Small grants will support

  • small scale creative, cultural and heritage projects
  • small scale participatory arts projects
  • small scale projects that target engagement with culturally under-served audiences
  • support for community led small scale public galas and similar (free to access).
    • note: festivals or galas can only apply with a minimum of 3 months before their festival or gala date

Application deadlines

  • round 1: Monday 31 March 2025
  • round 2: Monday 19 May 2025
  • round 3: Monday 14 July 2025
  • round 4: Monday 15 September 2025
  • round 5: Monday 17 November 2025

Decisions will be announced 8 weeks after each deadline, followed by a 2-week period for contracting and finance arrangements. Note that this could mean up to 10 weeks between application and a project beginning.

Applications are accepted via word document or e-form. We will accept applications via video or audio file if this is the preferred format due to access needs. Please get in touch at culturegrants@wakefield.gov.uk for further information and support.

Project reporting

All supported Culture Grants Small projects will need to complete an evaluation document, like this example: 

•    evaluation form (Word) (E-Form)

This will be submitted at the end of a project.
