Annual Canvass 2024

Each year, the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) must check the information held on the Electoral Register. This is to make sure they are ready to publish next year's register. This is known as the annual canvass.

The Register of Electors 2025 will be published on 31 January 2025. The 2024 annual canvass will begin in the week commencing 26 August. Residents in the district will be contacted by the Council to make sure that they are registered.

You may be contacted by letter, email or phone call. When contacted, residents will need to check their household information and respond as required.

This will ensure that the Council can keep the electoral register up to date and identify any residents who are not yet registered. Recent home movers, in particular, are urged to check their details.

If you receive a letter or email, the quickest and easiest way to respond is online via out register securely site. Security codes are provided in the letter/email. Responding online will only take a few minutes, and you can update the details for your full household.

For further help, you can contact Electoral Services on 01924 305023.
Some people may need to provide more information to complete their voter registration. This can include national insurance number and date of birth. We will contact anyone who needs to do this.

There are no scheduled elections taking place in 2025, however all out District Elections on the new local government boundaries will take place on Thursday, 7 May 2026.

It is important to ensure your registration is correct so that you can vote in future elections. If your details are not up-to-date on the electoral register, it may also lead to problems obtaining credit or opening bank accounts as credit reference companies rely on the register for background information. Registering to vote can help your credit score.
