Thornes Park
Thornes Park is Wakefield's main open space, less than a mile from the city centre.
Thornes Park has 60 hectares of open space with a 2-mile circular path around it. The park also has exercise stations along the route and a mound in the middle which was once a castle site and offers great views of Wakefield.

It also has a train-themed toddler area, a ‘giant’s unit’ nearly 9m tall, a motte and bailey castle-styled area with embankment tube slide and a double zip line.
