Residential Parking Permits
Residential Parking Schemes are in place to help residents park near their homes. They implemented where parking is limited, due to non-residents parking their vehicles.
They are not used to reserve spaces or to limit the number of vehicles any individual can have. They are also not there to create conflict between neighbours.
If you live in a permit area, you will need to apply for the relevant permits to park on the highway where you live.
Resident/Visitor Parking Permits
Resident Parking Permits are issued to specific vehicles belonging to residents. Visitor Parking Permits are issued to residents to be used by their visitors. Subject to conditions.
How do I apply for Resident/Visitor Parking Permits?
Submit a Resident/Visitor Permit Application form and provide the required supporting documentation. Resident Parking Permits and the initial Visitor Parking Permits are free. There is a £5 charge to replace a lost or damaged visitor permit.
Business Parking Permits
Business Parking Permits are for eligible businesses located in a residential permit scheme. They are permits that can be given to a motorist visiting a business. Subject to conditions.
How do I apply for a Business Parking Permit?
Submit a Business Permit application form and provide the required supporting documentation. There is no charge for a Business parking permit.
Season tickets (formally long stay parking permits)
Season tickets are available to purchase for use on long stay parking areas throughout the district (not including Merchant Gate). These permits will be “virtual” from 1 April 2024 and are being provided through MiPermit (they will be available to purchase on the system from 19th March 2024). There will no longer be a paper permit issued to display in a vehicle as they will be electronic. The MiPermit system will alert enforcement staff through their enforcement equipment when a vehicle has a valid “virtual” parking permit in operation.
