We want everyone to have the same opportunity to take part in sport and physical activity, whatever their ability.

Sports should be used as a tool to unite communities. We are committed to providing high-quality disability sports, activities, and facilities for residents and visitors alike.

Wakefield Council is committed to making sport and leisure accessible to everyone. Whether you have:

  • a physical disability
  • a sensory impairment
  • a learning disability
  • neurodivergent needs

We provide a range of inclusive activities across our Aspire facilities. We work with local partners to make sure you can stay active in a way that suits you.

Accessible Aspire Facilities and Services

Our Aspire leisure centres offer:

  • step-free access and lifts
  • accessible toilets and changing rooms
  • pool hoists and ramped pool access
  • hearing loops at reception
  • staff trained in disability awareness
  • quiet times for neurodivergent users

If you are unsure on the equipment that is suitable for your needs, then please just ask a member of the team. The instructors are on hand to offer support and guidance on the ways to adapt exercises to suit your needs.
