Our strategy, plans and performance

Our strategy

We all want people to live safely in the place they call home, with the people and things that they love, in communities where people look out for one another, doing the things that matter to them - #socialcarefutures.

Our Living Better Lives Adult Social Care Strategy 2022- 2025 describes our priorities and outcomes over the next three years for adult social care across the area, to support people to be Living Better Lives. Our priorities are in line with the Council's Corporate Plan Building a Fairer Future.

These priorities will help people live happier, healthier and more independent lives across the Wakefield district.

The strategy also outlines the values and behaviours that we will use, with our partners, to guide our service to deliver an excellent standard of care, for all.

Some of the key information about the district's population detailed in the Council's Corporate Plan and our Adult Social Care Strategy is from our annual State of the District report and Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.

Our plans

Our Adult Social Care Market Position Statement sets out the Council’s market shaping responsibilities required under the Care Act 2014, by:

  • providing an overview of our current market and what we currently commission
  • an outline of our market demand; and
  • what our future commissioning intentions are

The Market Position Statement is an important part of what a Council must do to help to make sure that there is a choice of different types of service and support available and can be used to encourage commissioners, people who use services, carers and provider organisations to work together to explain what care services and support is needed in the area and why.

Care market sustainability and fair cost of care exercise.

Our performance

The How are we doing? Adult Social Care Local Account 2021-2022 informs our citizens about the delivery of adult social care across the district, how we spend our money, the progress we have made against our Strategy priorities and the challenges we face, to support people to be Living Better Lives.
