Safeguarding Adults Reviews

The Care Act 2014, Section 44, requires that Safeguarding Adults Boards must arrange a Safeguarding Adults Review when:

• an adult has died because of abuse or neglect, or has not died but experienced serious abuse or neglect, whether known or suspected, and;
• there is a concern that partner agencies could have worked more effectively to protect the adult.

Purpose of a Safeguarding Adults Review

The purpose of a Safeguarding Adults Review is not to reinvestigate or to apportion blame. It is to establish where and how lessons can be learned and services improved for all those who use them and for their families and carers.
