Help Pugney the Pal tackle hate

Councillor Maureen Cummings reading with children

Children are invited to complete Pugney the Pals workbook. It has fun activities that explains what a hate crime is and why we should be kind. The workbook also talks about what to do if they see someone being bullied. It also asks them to make a difference by spreading kindness and tackling hate.

Where did Pugney come from?

We take hate crime very seriously. And think it is important that we teach children that hate and bullying is not acceptable. But of course, this needs to be in a way that is fun and relatable to them. This is where Pugney comes in.
Pugney the Pal has faced adversity in his life. He’s different to other dogs. He wears an eyepatch and has one ear shorter than the other, because of his differences he was bullied.

The workbook contains lots of fun activities. It aims to encourage children to think about being kind and caring. Plus it gets them talking to their classmates, teachers and parents.
